From fashion to pasta, Milan is what you need

Posted by in THE TRAVEL GUIDE .

Apart from being Europe’s fashion mecca, Milan is edgy in every sense. Even if you move here for a year or two, you won’t be able to visit every club, restaurant, gelateria, or boutique. However, a weekend escape should treat you to the wonders of this northern Italian city, from genuine pizza to top haute couture.

Pizza AM
Not eating Pizza or pasta everyday while in Milan is a crime. Pizza AM has indisputably the best pizza in Milan. Adventurous as we are, #TM decided to try ‘’Pizza Biancha’’ which does not have tomato sauce and is topped by poppy seed! The desserts were creamy mango shots, can this place get any better?

Marangoni Students
Fashion students from all over the world flock to Milan. You will see them all around the city and at Istituto Marangoni, one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. You can also spend a whole afternoon or day shopping in Milan, be it at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or Via Montenapoleone. However, the city is simply a shopping street after another!

Nottingham Forest Bar
Named one of the Top 50 great bars in the world, Nottingham Forest is simply indescribable. The bar is rather small but packed with objects from all around the world, from Mexican skulls to Chinese figurines. The coolest thing is, of course, the cocktails. They come in all shapes and forms. We had a bathtub (the Sephora) and the Thai box. Come early or you will have to stand in line for at least half an hour!

Gelateria Concordia
It is very easy to get scammed when it comes to having Milan’s best gelato. Don’t go to the tourist traps in Duomo, go to Gelateria Concordia! After having gelato at this local favorite you will never see gelato as you did before. We recommend Pistachio and Ricotta with Plums - so delish!

Rocket Milano
Going out in Milan is a must. There are dozens of clubs to choose from, ranging from top locations like Armani Prive to trendy clubs like Rocket. We decided to check Rocket out, as it is one of the best places to go on Fridays and is normally frequented by Milan’s cool kids. The crowd starts arriving at 1-2am, so prepare yourself for a long night out.

#architecturelovers

You will find all types of architectures in Milan. From lovely Italian "edifici" to eco-friendly skyscrapers. It will surprise you how diverse, up-to-the-minute, and modish this city can be, despite having only 1 million inhabitants!

#goodmorning

Having breakfast at Bar Luce, designed by Wes Anderson (the director of the Grand Budapest Hotel), is definitely a good morning start! Enjoy the eccentric atmosphere while munching on a sweet croissant and an Italian espresso. After having your breakfast you can visit the Prada Museum, located in the same building.

#nature

Apart from having many parks and green areas, Milan’s central buildings have courtyards that abound in nature and charm. Many of these buildings are found in Breda, Milan’s most upbeat neighborhood.

#artoftheday

There are many exhibitions happening in Milan every single day. We got the opportunity to visit MIA Photo Fair in which hundreds of photographers from around the world showcased their talent and hard work. Don’t forget to research exhibitions happening in Milan while you’re visiting.

Craving pasta? Make it yourself! It is easy and simple: Add pancetta (bacon), rucola, and parmesan. Mix with chili flakes and olive-oil, done!

Lago Di Garda
Tired of shopping and eating? Then take a day trip to Lake Garda! The train ride to Desenzano del Garda takes less than two hours. This lovely town is surrounded by the breathtaking Lake Garda. Here you can rent a boat or canoe to explore the lake, something that Italians love to do during weekends.
